When the city of Faridabad started to expand initially in the 1970’s one of the first development companies to start the city on its path to expansion was the Haryana Urban Development Authority. This is a statutory body formed by the Haryana Government to undertake the acquisition of land and the planning and development of the facilities and infrastructure in the urban sectors of Haryana.  The various sections in the parts of Faridabad city which came to be known as its sectors were acquired and developed for residential purposes by this authority. HUDA cut the plots in the various sectors and sold the land for settlement to the end users.

However once the city started the expansion in the Greater Faridabad area in the 21st century this changed. Huda was charged with the acquisition of the land and a large number of private players came into the city for the development of the projects.  HUDA however still has acquired some part of the land in Greater Faridabad and has offered some residential plots in Faridabad in sectors 77 and 78 of Greater Faridabad area.  These HUDA plots in Faridabad are available in various sizes ranging from 100 sq. yards to 500 sq. yards.  As per the modern construction laws of Haryana now these plots are all passed for the constructions of stilt + 4 floors.  Although HUDA is not in any way involved in the execution part of the construction of projects in Greater Faridabad it is still the deciding and executing authority for the development of the infrastructure like all the major roads in the new sectors. This responsibility is now expected to be taken over by the MCF or the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad.
